Lists move. Memory lies.
In one good conversation your ranking can flip over and over. By the end you half-remember who was #2 when you started, and nobody wrote the case down.
You know the conversation. Barbershop. Group chat. Comments under a highlight reel. Your Top 5 changes three times before anyone leaves, and tomorrow the only record is your memory or a half-finished note on your phone. Top Five locks five ranks, makes you defend each pick, and turns it into a share card built for the next round.
Why this exists
Someone names a sleeper pick. You bump a favorite down. You walk something back after coffee. That is normal. What is not normal is trying to hold every version of your Top 5 in your head, or in Notes that never get opened again.
In one good conversation your ranking can flip over and over. By the end you half-remember who was #2 when you started, and nobody wrote the case down.
At best you jot a name and a half sentence on your phone. It is scattered, private, and useless when the next friend wants to argue the same night.
Threads scroll past. Tier lists stay mute. Nothing forces five slots, a defense for each, or a card other people can jump into.
Top Five is built for ranks that change and ideas that need receipts. Forced ranking plus defense. Every version of your list can hold up under pressure.
How it works
Build a Top 5 in a fixed category. Only five slots. When the board is full, promoting someone means someone else gets cut. That tradeoff is the game.
Your Take is the argument, not a sticky note. Write why each entry sits where it sits. When ranks flip, history keeps the receipt.
Export a card built to start a fight offline. The share is the product. Not a dump of screens from the app.
Five categories
Five launch categories. Same count as the mark. Adding a sixth is a brand decision, not a settings toggle.
